Will a Warrant show up on a Background Check?
Answering Questions about Wants & Warrant Checks
When running background checks on employment candidates, hiring managers may have heard of Wants & Warrant Checks and have some questions about what they are and if they will show up on background checks ordered with AAA Credit Screening Services.
Will a Warrant show up on a Background Check?
It depends. A background check is an umbrella term that means different things to different people. There is a report entitled “Wants and Warrants” that looks specifically for outstanding warrants. Usually an open warrant will not show up on a statewide or nationwide criminal background check. If the person that is running a background check is looking for warrants, we recommend that they choose to run a “Wants and Warrants” in addition to any other background check reports they are ordering.
What is a Wants & Warrants Search?
When a person is wanted by the police or other law enforcement agencies, warrants are issued for that person. If someone was supposed to appear at a court hearing, and failed to do so, the court will issue a warrant for their arrest. Running a wants & warrants search will tell you if any such warrants are outstanding for the person in question.
